What is BPS (bits per second)?

In data communications, the amount of bits sent in a single second to measure information transmission speeds. Speeds are estimated at 1000 bits per second. The speed in bps is equivalent to the quantity of bits sent or received each second. Bits per second are a unit of estimation within the larger bit rate, also called as a variable R, which is the quantity of bits prepared per unit of time. The fields of information communications, telecommunications and computer science most commonly utilize these terms.
