Advanced Wireless Services is a wireless telecommunications spectrum band that is used for mobile voice and data services, video services, and messaging. This is commonly known as the AWS band and its range is 1695 to 2200 MHz. This band uses microwave frequencies. Device support for AWS has improved the longer the band in general use, with most high-end and many mid-range handsets supporting it over HSPA, LTE, or both. The AWS band was defined in 2002 as AWS-1 used microwave frequencies in two segments 1710-1755 MHz for uplink and 2100-2155 MHz for downlink.
