What is AVC (Advanced Video coding)?

AVC is Advanced Video Coding is a video compression standard based on book-orientation, motion-compensated DCT coding. It is the most commonly used format for the recording, compression, and distribution of video content. AVC helps to set the standard syntax for video formats such as Blu-ray, mobile TV, and video conferencing. It is also known as H.264 or MPEG-4 part 10.
