What is AI (artificial intelligence)?

Artificial Intelligence is the simulation of human intelligence processes by various computer systems. Applications of AI include expert systems, natural language processing (NLP), speech recognition, and machine vision. It refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed to think like humans and mimic their actions. The characteristic of AI is its ability to rationalize and take actions that have the best chance of achieving a specific goal.

It is based on the principle that human intelligence can be defined in a way that a machine can easily mimic and execute tasks. The technology can be applied to many different sectors and industries. It is being tested and used in the healthcare industry for dosing drugs and different treatments in patients and also for various surgical operations.

Artificial Intelligence can be divided into two different categories: Strong AI and weak AI. Strong AI systems are systems that carry on tasks that are considered human-like. Weak AI embodies a system designed to carry out one particular job. AI is a science with multiple approaches, but advancements in machine learning and deep learning are creating a paradigm shift in virtually every sector of the industry.
