What is ACI (Adjacent channel interference)?

ACI is Adjacent Channel Interference is the interference caused by extra power from a signal in an adjacent channel. Signals which are adjacent in frequency to the desired signal can cause Adjacent Channel interference. This type of interference could be reduced by using modulation schemes with low out-of-band radiation, carefully designing the bandpass filter at the receiver front end, and assigning adjacent channels to different cells to keep the frequency separation between each cell. All effects of ACI can also be reduced by using advanced signal processing techniques that employ various equalizers.
