What is a C-Plane (Control Plane)?

The control plane is the part of a network that carries signaling traffic and is responsible for routing. The control plane, data plane, and management plane are the three basic components of a telecommunications architecture. Various control packets originate from or are designed for a router. Software-defined networking decouples the control plane and the data plane. The control plane carries signaling traffic control packets originating from or destined for a router.
